STEAM BATTLE #1- Chrono Trigger: This is the battle of the RPG ports, I guess- I got pretty far on previous verions of CT, FFX, and Disgaea 2, but haven't finished any of em. I know the games and I like the games, but that doesn't mean the porting proess can't muck 'em up! And y'never know what you'll get with the new games either. ...Still, this should be an appropriate level of gimme for the 1 seed. Put it back to old graphics and learned that there's a whole lot of the world I can explore before advancing the plot at all! Also THE CAT FOLLOWS YOU. Yes I screwed around the whole time but it's CT I know it >_>

STEAM BATTLE #16- Z: This is one I just randomly got as a blind gift from somebody. I don't have high hopes BUT it appears to be an RTS rather than the zombie game I assumed it was. That's a plus. This is the most 90s game I have ever seen, from the """"humor"""" to the animation to the....frankly quite awkward interface. Needs a tutorial I think. Cleared a couple missions anyway.

THE VERDICT: Z exceeded expectations but still isn't really a game I anticipate playing again- I'd rather play Command and Conquer if I get that itch. Chrono Trigger is Chrono Trigger. Layup of a match to kick us off.
Winner: CT

STEAM BATTLE #8- VA-11 Hall-A: This is gonna be a much better match, probably. This one has been on my radar for a long time, and Scythe has for a while too. I think this was one of @IhatethisCPU 's favorites and he helped move it up the wishlist, so I'll throw him a tag. Right off the bat, I am in love with the aesthetics, even though cyberpunk is not very much my thing. Why yes I will turn on scanlines, thank you. ....and did they just reference freakin' G Gundam with "Shining Fingered"? Excellent. I think I'm gonna get tired of mixing drinks, and the dystopia thing is a bit too real, but this is going to be a strong contender otherwise.

STEAM BATTLE #9- Scythe: I do love me some board games, and I have heard quite good things about Scythe. This presentation is pretty snazzy, especially relative to my expectations! I got all the way through the tutorials, and it looks like precisely my kinda game.

THE VERDICT: .....Both deserve to move to round two, and either one has an outside shot at dethroning CT. I think what it's going to come down to is that Scythe is going to be fun once I play it for real, and Va-11 is fun NOW. Plus I have been getting some good board game time in lately and will get more over the summer, so the heavyweight board game itch is not as strong with me as it usually is. Expect Scythe again, but
WINNER: VA-11

STEAM BATTLE #4- Touhou Hidden Star in Four Seasons: This is another one I really don't actually NEED to try out, but I do enjoy following procedure. Not much has changed from last battle- I still main Spring Cirno, I'm still pretty bad at it, and Aunn is still my favorite new Touhou. But, I got to Okina this time! We'll ignore that I am still in IIJI MODO.

STEAM BATTLE #13- VVVVVV: I finally got around to counting the Vs! And trying this game everybody likes. It went....about exactly as I expected. I cleared a level and then wandered around the world for a while. I think I could've cleared the Tower with a bit more time.

THE VERDICT: I didn't get as frustrated as I expected with VVVVVV, and I can already see some pretty solid design choices, but that doesn't change the fact that this genre isn't super my thang. Two games I suck at enter, but only one leaves!
WINNER: Touhou

Well of Ascension: Just re-establishing stuff so far, except for some Tuxedo Mask wannabe.
