Days of Heaven is an absolute cinematographic masterpiece. The framing, the lighting, and the sprawling Heartland backdrop makes for a stunning display of cinematic prowess rarely matched to this day. This movie, along with Badlands (which I actually don't really care for) basically made Terrence Malick the most sought-after director in America. And then he disappeared for twenty years. But it's a testament to the gorgeous direction and biblical storytelling that people were still pining for his return two decades later.
