I answered one, didn't hear anything, and it disconnected after 10 seconds. We've got two landline phones that use the number. One is next to me and the other is in my mom's room, on the receiver, and nothing is pushing down on the buttons. Also, my mom is plainly sitting in the room with me, using one of my old tablets that has no phone functionality.
