They are not meant for career jobs. People trying to turn entry level jobs into career jobs cannot expect to make ends meet. Raising minimum wage in return raises prices in order to meet the raise (or eliminating jobs to keep the status quo). This in turn keeps the entry level jobs entry level while also squeezing the middle class. Especially when inflation remains relatively flat.
