The most common complaint against the old flaming rule was that it was subjective how "severe" the flame was and inconsistent on how it was moderated. So in direct response to user feedback, they simplified the ruling. Now any name calling is treated equally regardless of what the insult is. No more debates about whether a flame was "bad enough" to be deleted. Again, this is what the users asked for and what they got. That's silly.
