In general, the whole docking process seems something of a nuisance, although part of it is the fact that I only have the one charge cable and the whole thing might seem a little less inconvenient if I bought a second cable to leave plugged into the dock. If you get the pro controller (which is an excellent controller in its own right and well worth having), it comes with a USB-C charging cable (which it uses) that can also be used to charge the Switch. It's much slower than charging using the dedicated adapter (some games will still manage to drain the battery even while charging it), since Nintendo did something with that adapter that goes beyond regular USB-C charging speeds, but it'd give you a second charging cable without having to specifically buy one. --- This is my signature.
