That's why positive representation in media is so important to minorities. Depending on where a person lives, their exposure to LGBT may be even less. When they don't know any of them personally, and all they see is bad news about that one person pushing someone off stage and injuring them, what do you think those people's opinion about the group would be? I know it's not fair, but that's just how human brains are wired.
