Full disclosure I was a backer to the $100 tier because I wanted to get my name in the credits

After the sour taste left by Mighty No. 9 I was afraid of another game I had kickstarted would befall the same fate, but my boi IGA was able to come through for us and deliver pretty much exactly what he promised us. A straight up honest to goodness IGAvania that sticks to what made the genre popular in the first place. It almost seems magical, but it was like he never took a 10 year break from making Castlevania games and this is what would have naturally come next after Order of Ecclesia. It's certainly rough around the edges (although the 1.02 patch did clean up a lot of glitches I was having), but they're going to continue patching this game with all the extra modes promised from the kickstarter and I'm sure a lot of the jank will be smoothed out even more as time goes on.

Because I got the game a day early before the official release I had started the game on 1.01 so I was set to be a victim of the progress glitch if I had updated to 1.02 on my playthrough. What I ended up doing was not patching the game at all for my original playthrough and then patching it once I hit the credits. I was able to finish the game and achieve 100% map, but what I didn't know was that on 1.01 the Demon list was glitched as well and 2 bosses never registered so it would have required a runthrough of NG+ to get them.

So I went ahead and did that on Hard mode and still had a blast. I like on NG+ the entire map you revealed is already on there and you just fill it in and it goes from light blue to dark blue. After rushing through that then I set myself down and got all the materials and money I needed to get 100% of the item list to finish off the platinum. Luckily the Dismantle feature makes it much less of a pain because as soon as you make an item you can just take it apart to get your materials back and use them for something else provided you have the dismantle fluid required to do it (which is expensive and costs a decent amount of cash every time you do it)

Trophy requires were as follows:

- Finish the story and get the true ending
- 100% Map
- 100% Items (which requires 100% Quests)
- 100% Demon list
- 100% Shards
- See a certain bad ending
- Reach level 50
- Amass a fortune of 500,000 G
- Take in a large quantity of blood.
- Break 1000 candles
- Open 100 chests
- Slay 1000 demons
- Jump kick 10 times without touching the ground.
- Master a weapon technique
- Borrow 10 books.
- Backstep a lot
- Changed Miriam's hairstyle

The rest would be covered by fulfilling those requirements

Overall when compared to all the other IGAvanias I don't think it's quite on the level of SotN, but it's very close. It seemed to be more of a greatest hits of all of IGA's games including his chair fetish. Its worthy of the IGAvania name and I would put it in the same tier as the likes of Aria/Dawn of Sorrow and Order of Ecclesia. Definitely check it out if you can!

oh yeah somehow I had forgotten they got Alucard's voice actor for this game and he basically just plays a character that is Alucard with dark hair. David Haytor is a nice bonus although whenever hearing him it just sounds like the bad version of his Solid Snake.
