The obsession with touch screen functionality. I mostly notice it in Marvel movies, but because of their popularity it has creeped into other films. Notably the new Godzilla movie.

Whenever theres a sciency scene in a Marvel movie Tony Stark or Mark Ruffalo always do a bunch of adjustments on a touch screen. These things mean nothing. It's obvious that the director just told them "yeah just do some finger shit on the glass panel, we'll put in an effect later". There's no rhyme or reason in the stuff they do. It looks like their hands have Tourettes. Its like that scene in Star Wars Episode 2 where Natalie's Portman is running on a conveyer belt and swaying around to avoid hammers and shit. If you watch some behind the scenes stuff about the film George Lucas is talking about how cool it is that theres nothing there and they just put it in later and at most she's reacting to vague shapes coloured for blue screen. Like you can see its not real acting and that there's nothing fucking there. I get that touchscreens are more visually appealing than scientists doing sciency stuff on a keyboard and letters popping up on a screen, but there has to be a way to do this stuff without the most notable thing about the scenes being how the actors' hands seem to be having an epileptic seizure.

God damn that topic title >_>
