Men stop trying once they get comfortable in the marriage. Ive experienced it and know so many women who complain about the same thing.

Marriage doesn't seem practical to me because of this, tbh. For the first year or two (of most relationships) both people are on their absolute best behaviour, trying to make each other happy, trying to impress one another, trying to be attractive for one another, etc. Then you just get accustomed to them being there and everything becomes very routine and boring. Both people generally let themselves go to some extent, and stop doing most of the things that made them fall in love with one another to begin with. It's depressing as hell.

The problem with marriage though, is that you can't just peace out whenever you want when things become stagnant, communication fails, or worse.. there's fighting or cheating involved. It becomes a very messy and drawn out process that can affect you for your entire life instead of just being a clean break. That's what gives me pause. They're your dream partner today and everything you ever wanted, but what about a couple years from now? Five years? More? I feel like it takes a shit ton of hard work and dedication, maybe more so than anything else in life.
