Black Christmas is a proto-slasher but an excellent example of this. The Scream series has always had likable characters. I always felt Nightmare on Elm Street had some good characters too. At the very least, you should have a well-established final girl to fall back on, which Summer even fails to do. --- Listen, suffering is a fact of life.
