I originally watched this series when I was in my early to mid 20's and I thought it was pretty average at the time. honestly, my tastes have changed a lot since then, and it's easier for me to appreciate more "classic" things within the context of when they were released. either way though, I thought this was pretty great. noriko is given really concise characterization early on but they do it so efficiently. the first scene of all the robots training outside made me laugh. the robots in general made me laugh quite a bit. they're awesome but also comical, and that's in a good way. noriko has a solid arc in this episode. the best thing is that I specifically remember thinking that the beginning was a bit boring and that it got great by the end. if I'm already loving the first episode I can only imagine how much more I'm going to enjoy the later stuff. --- Reality seems very harsh https://imgur.com/VRszIc8 ...
