A disjointed, episodic story, inconsistent acting, lacking scares, and a title character who certainly isnt as interesting as Vito Corleone the sumptuous production design and shadow-bathed cinematography in particular do a surprisingly good job of subsuming these flaws by absorbing the viewer in this Draculas world. Leaning into the gothic material in this way can only do so much for the doomed romance at its core, though, leaving an average movie in its wake. --- "I believe in a universe that doesn't care, and people who do."
