Superman

Rating: 80/100
In terms of greatness, Superman would be much higher. But on personal preference, he skates into an extremely respectable 80-spot. Superman as a character is a great, layered being that fits into the mold of nearly every superhero story because he is the ultimate representation of the overman. He's not a god, he's not a man. He's the hybrid between the two we need. He lets us ruminate on society in a macro and micro sense. He gives us opportunity to question morality and explore ethics. And as a science fiction creation, he is one of the perfect bridges between high concept and low stakes. For me, Superman is one of the most important characters in fiction.
