The US government already spends twice as much on health care as the next-highest country (Canada, which is hideously inefficient in its own ways). With a proper system that wasn't bogged down by insurance middlemen driving prices up with their haggling and creating unnecessary administrative costs, odds are less of your paycheque would be going toward health care. And that's to say nothing of the broader social benefits of accessible health care (fewer people becoming unemployed because of untreated health problems, less missed time, fewer people with problems that are serious enough to need treatment with opioids, fewer outbreaks...), plus the fact that health care costs generally go down when people are willing to seek preventative care and treatment for minor issues because both prevent major issues from arising.
