Awakenings actually kinda do help with surviving because if your DPS is good enough you can beat some Magicite and push them into their later phases where they can barely use their damaging moves, Typhon and Famfrit being the two most noticable (actually Famfrit barely hurts me post phase 1 before awakenings.)

They are tedious though, I will give you that but one thing I do is kill different Magicite for inheritance fodder (shuffle between Famfrit, Phoenix and Typhon) so it doesn't get too boring looking at the same thing.

Or you can just kill Ixion in less than ten seconds if the arcana loss isn't that much of loss personally and you just want the monthly 20 done.
