This is basically what I thought before this topic, but then Corrik said it and ten people yelled at him, so apparently not.

(I knew incel subculture was a thing but I still thought "incel" was a general term for people who can't get laid on a basically permanent basis, whether or not they subscribe to the subculture.)

I mean the antifa comparison was pretty apt before. Corrik saying "b-b-but they're not terrorists!" was just him being obtuse.

Incel technically means the general term, but the main reason it has a super negative connotation is because of the subculture, and it's really only used in that context. No one not from the subculture would identify as one. Similarly, if you call someone an incel it's generally a burn in a way that calling em a virgin isn't.
