I don't mean this as insulting but is this selfpublished or did you get picked up by a publisher? And if self published how hard is that process? I had a short story published in college and it took forever. It was such a pain to get published I don't think I'd ever do it again. I can't imagine getting a full novel.

Getting "published" on Kindle is pretty easy. Just about anyone can do it. Being a digital medium there's almost no cost involved to doing it so there are no costs for Amazon to recoup. They don't have to worry about the book selling enough copies to cover the costs of printing. Even if you only sell a dozen copies it's all good.
