The thing that gets me isn't that it's necessarily bad but that there's so many better things that are in a similar genre. I think it's just a matter of its exposure meaning that lots of people who like that sort of stuff have watched it and vote it instead of spreading the votes around too much. At least Love Live is the pinnacle (or thereabouts) for idol anime. Goblin Slayer is average at best and in a relatively more saturated genre. Although Haganai 5th would probably have annoyed me about as much to be fair.
