It's weird to think about, but up until maybe 10 years ago I owned fewer than 30 movies on DVD. Then as recently as maybe 4 or 5 years ago, I might have owned fewer than 50 or 60 movies on DVD/BR. Today it feels like I'm on hoarders. I'm going through a lot of the stuff and finding that I have way more duplicates than I thought.

The largest part of the problem is just cheap DVDs -- mostly thanks to hitting up Goodwill where I can get them for a buck apiece half the time (and $2 the rest of the time). Then there are movies that I was kinda sketchy on that I paid $1-3 for because they also included a digital download code =x

The worst is typically long-running shows, since I recently picked up another copy of Smallville season 7. (Honestly, even the first copy of season 7 was probably a mistake. It wasn't a particularly great season... not that Smallville was a fantastic show, mind you.) I also apparently own 2 copies of Burn Notice s2, although one is BR and the other is DVD. For tv shows, I also usually wind up paying more which makes it more annoying. While it's likely still considerably cheaper than going through other sources (excluding piracy, obviously) for the same material, a lot of the stuff I might not have bought had it not been cheap in the first place.

But yeah, I also realized I own 2 copies of Young Frankenstein and I *still* haven't seen it.
