Undertale has a very distinct demographic. If you don't fall in it, it's going to seem really dumb and simple. But man, if you do fall in it, you are in for a god damn ride. I don't think I can name another video game on Earth where I can't think of a single thing I would change to make the game do what it sets out to do better.

That said, it still only gets my +4 because I'm not fully in that demographic, so there are more than a few bits that still really fell flat for me.

Banjo-Kazooie barely missed my list, and I am very happy to see the support for it brought it into the Top 25. The world built by this game, the unforgettable and colorful cast of characters, the iconic soundtrack, and sheer amount of fun and challenging platforming made this one of the best games on the N64 and still holds up as a great classic.

Banjo-Kazooie was a huge part of my childhood. I remember going to the local library so I could check out the latest Nintendo Powers, and the new one for June of 1998 had a very happy bear and bird on the cover. After reading their preview, I knew I needed this game. I don't remember who had the promotion, but my dad drove me 50 miles to the nearest participating store. I ended up getting their very last soundtrack CD/T-shirt with the game, went home, and spent hours on end playing it.

Everything in this game feels perfect. I always felt kinda gimped in Mario 64, but BK has more variety and is way more forgiving. I go back and replay it every year or so, and it's become one of the only games I enjoy casually speedrunning. The XBL Arcade version has time tracking and leaderboards, and I wanna say my record for 100% completion is around the 3:50 mark.

Mana
This is a game where I was left disappointed enough by the end to know I would never replay it and while I do not agree with its high placement in this list and amongst other Zelda games, I will say there are a lot of things in this game that were very special. The weapon and item selection were wonderful and inventive, some of the temples and their bosses are among the best in the series, the story is well-paced and told well for the majority of the game, and my biggest regret is not keeping the game just to spend a few hours on that beautiful lake fishing every now and again. I respect those that love this game and can understand why.
