It just occurred to me that I may have been calculating average age completely wrong. With the options that cover a specific age range such as 29-32, I would always use 30.5 as a median value when calculating average age. That may have been the wrong approach here since 29-32 covers a period of 4 years (age 29, 30, 31, and 32), so the correct median age would be 31 for the 29-32 age group. Those who currently 32 would have to vote for 29-32 even if they are just one day away from turning 33 at the time the poll was being ran.

If I were to change the way I calculate average age based on this discovery I made, it would have to be retroactively applied to the average age calculations of the previous age polls. This would also affect average date of birth calculations as well. I'm still unsure if I want to stick with the already established method of calculating average age or go with the newer method, which would actually increase average age by about 0.5.
