I noticed the interesting coincidence where exactly 128 characters advanced to Phase 2.5, and I decided to make a mock bracket based on the idea, intended as the hypothetical next sitewide Character Battle. The following are notable snubs among CBX entrants: Aerith Gainsborough, Albert Wesker, Bayonetta, Bomberman, Captain Toad, Cecil Harvey, Chris Redfield, Chun-Li, Crash Bandicoot, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, Fox McCloud, Frog, Gordon Freeman, Isaac, KOS-MOS, Kratos, Master Chief, Ness, Pac-Man, Pokmon Trainer Red, Princess Peach, Ramza Beoulve, Ridley, Rosalina, Ryu, Ryu Hayabusa, Shovel Knight, Simon Belmont, Sora, Sub-Zero, Terra Branford, Vincent Valentine, Waluigi, and Wario (Geralt of Rivia and L-Block were ineligible)

Even with so many snubs, this is a surprisingly mainstream list by B8 standards; I would say the only huge omissions are Kratos (because of Dad of War), Ryu (who I never expected to make it anyways), and Sora (B8 has a bunch of KH fans, so this is really surprising). On the other hand, Lara Croft is probably the most surprising character to make the list for me, especially since no one nominated her in Phase 1 until the last moment.
