Sanford is closest to Daytona, so that makes for a better choice for a stop along the way. You see what "BBQ" places there are, and you find quite a good selection. Sonny's BBQ describes itself as "fast-food chain for slow-smoked meats," and it is the first one off the highway. Fuel BBQ is by Lake Monroe, offering a lovely view, but it doesn't have a description so you just go by its 4.4 out of 5 star rating to consider it a good restaurant. Speaking of star ratings, Wavey's Bar-B-Que is a 4.9! But it's so far into Sanford that it's practically on the way out.
