Cliff and Nicole made what they thought was the better bet - there's no guarantee that they'd have beaten Tommy at Veto, either, and Holly is more beatable in the final 2 than Tommy is. It is 100% results-oriented thinking to calling them dumb; had they made the other decision and then Tommy won Veto with intent to split them up just the same, people would still call them stupid. The only time they could've taken him out was during the Double Eviction, but they instead to split up the Tommy/Christie pair, which is a completely fair decision on their behalf for the reasons you stated. They had a choice which duo to break up and chose the one that was better for their game. As much of a douche as he is, Michie has played the best game and has set himself up well to advance to Part 3 of the final HOH. All he has to do is win that and he wins Big Brother, making his mother so proud of him. Michie/Holly are also only the second showmance to make the F3 together and the first in BBUS, with the first being Derek/Kaela in BBCAN6. Michie beats both Holly and Nicole in the F2 because of how the jury sees that he's controlled so much, won competitions, set himself up brilliantly, and convinced people to do things that were more in his interests than their own. A Holly/Nicole F2... I have no idea which of the two of them wins, so part of me hopes that happens so we don't get a runaway jury vote.
