Fans have become so single-minded about needing the best player to win, and they get super disappointed when it doesnt happen. There's a reason why that GoFundMe for King Luke happened - because the fans were all upset about him losing. "Waahh waahh my favorite didn't win and he should have! TAKE MY MONEY!" Luke should donate over half of that sum to help other families like his. And I did think that maybe they made Pia's winner's edit so obvious so people wouldn't be so upset about King Luke getting 4th, but alas, it didn't help, and instead ruined the season. I think the source of that problem is an evolution of Survivor that was unintentional, with the way Hantz was edited as the clear protagonist of Samoa and people got upset when his stealthier ally took it from him when he insulted the jury. Ever since, they've wanted to prevent that "travesty" (hint: It isn't one) and so has Probst.
