Most of there 1911s are mid tier offerings that are over priced. For half the price you can get a lesser quality, but acceptable 1911. For the same price range as the Colt you can get a better gun from other manufacturers. They no longer produce anything competitive in the high end or super high end area. There ARs have been in the same boat for awhile. They can't make a decent rifle to compete with S&W or Ruger entry level rifles. Colts price to quality/feature ratio just isn't there. The current crop of gun buyers didn't grow up with colt being one of the only games in town for ARs, 1911s, and still making nice wheel guns.
