"I am going to kill you" is a death threat. "I will offer you $300 to sleep with me tonight" is solicitation. "My company's about to lay off 400 people and you should sell some of their stock now" is insider trading. The mere act of texting isn't an offence, no, but you can absolutely use texts to communicate messages that constitute offences. --- This is my signature.
