People who feel compelled to read topics and post on a regular basis are often doing so to the detriment of time management in other ways. I know, back when I was in college, things like AIM and ICQ, and Internet chat rooms in general, could be absolute hell on getting work done on time if you had deadlines and a tendency to procrastinate. It's way too easy to be working on a project and start feeling like maybe you should take a break to check and see if anyone's posted anything, and then suddenly you're wasting tons of time.
