Spoilers I played through Act 1
I love how this game really opens with this busy and bright Japan but also this super seedy feel. There is a lot to be said from really shining the dirt in the lights. One of my few praises of FF7 is Midgar, its a brilliant part of the game because it has this dreary metallic dead gigantic city. The people though are so damn alive in the city that it brings light into its darkness. The reverse is here.

I really hope this series will showcase who and what Kiryu is really about, he has the makings of a lot of great TV characters. Kinda reminds me of the main guy from Person of Interest in a lot of ways. Here to do a job, good at the job, but not interested in opening up or moving up.

So this game opens with Kiryu collecting money from a guy and beating him up, he then delivers it to a rather shady looking dude in a car. Afterwards he ends up walking the streets of Japan and meets up with another guy...gonna be honest forgot his name lets call him SNAZZY YAKUZA MAN. They end up having a bite and then they find out the guy he beat up is dead.

Snazzy Yakuza Man

So I love this dinky little restaurant they are in. I mentioned in post 1 this was a prequel, what I didn't realize is the time period seems to be the 1980s. This restaurant is just oozing of cheap and dated well everything. I really dug this dive.

Anyway back to the main story here, I don't understand how this Yakuza thing really works. Someone can help fill in the blanks if you wish of Yakuza Hierarchy here. From what I understand there is a main family or maybe 4 main families? Then each of these main families have sub families...but then there are sub families of sub families. I'm very lost.

Well Kiryu and Snazzy Yakuza Man belong to the Dojima Family and now they want to question Kiryu. So they do and they blame him without any real care. Seems about right for a crime family I guess. Apparently Kiryu and Snazzy were adopted by.....an old yakuza guy in prison whose name escapes me. There seems to be a setup here because if Kiryu is exiled then it makes prison yakuza look weak and shamed!

The glasses man

So Kiryu and Snazzy end up at another family HQ, a smaller one and def less prominent as it looks pretty dingy. There a lot of planning goes on the best course of action, Kiryu decides though hes gonna ask to leave the family. ???, uh guess this will be a short game cause hes gonna die. The older yakuza boss there attacks Kiryu for his stupid suggestion but hes gonna do it anyway.

So Kiryu heads off and then runs into this guy I didn't mention above cause I thought he'd never appear again. This weird drunk guy teaches me a new fighting style, right this game is a beat em up. So I learn this new style and then head off to the Dojima HQ.

There Kiryu asks to leave, he beaten up bad which apparently is bad against their code? the guy with glasses laughs and tells him he already left so they are gonna kill him now. Kiryu is finally showing some emotion here, he seems happy and then I realize what he already new and planned. Hes out of the Yakuza now so he can beat the hell out of them.

Insert a good hour of beat em up fights and me barely able to keep my health up.

(There was this one guy that I beat up like 50 times, man I feel like hes not dead even after I threw him out a window)

Finally I get to the dojo looking place and confront the Yakuza Boss from before, this old guy is now shirtless with some crazy tats. Hes jacked, this is gonna be an actual hard fight.

I died.
