5. Lenna Charlotte Tycoon

I'm trying to think of cool things to tell you about Lenna Charlotte Tycoon. I've really gotta wrack my brain for this one. She was localized as "Reina" before FFV Advance, which I like a lot more, but I won't hold it against Advance because otherwise it's an unmistakably superior product than basically any other version of Final Fantasy V. "Finest Fantasy for Advance," the ad campaigns used to say. They weren't kidding. There's a lot to love about the game, you see, but none of it is Lenna Charlotte Tycoon.

Lenna Charlotte Tycoon has a name that only an 1849 California gold rush miner could love. When I was a kid I headcanoned that "Tycoon" was pronounced with an intense Southern twang and I'm not sure why I did that. Looking back, if I had to guess, it would be because I was desperate to make Lenna Charlotte Tycoon interesting at any cost. She likes dragons and eventually comes to like her secret sister too. She dances at a stately ball alongside Faris during the early parts of World 3, which is cute I guess. She's selfless ("doesnt afraid of anything") and has a heart of shrug.

I don't really care about Lenna Charlotte Tycoon very much but here's something shrimpteresting: the creator of the Higurashi franchise modeled Ryg Rena after her. What's really great about this "coolfact" is that, although she herself is pretty boring, Lenna Charlotte Tycoon's existence gave rise to a character who is not at all boring.
