It seems as though the issue is the result of Nintendo using a shitty exFAT driver for the Switch. If the SD Card is formatted as FAT32, there is no longer any issue with possible SD Card corruption from Sword/Shield's auto-save feature. What this likely means that Game Freak won't be able to fix this through a patch and we'll need a new Switch firmware update from Nintendo to fix their shitty exFAT driver.
