Comeback Player of the Year

Dolphins DE Calais Campbell

One of the steadiest DEs in the league, he had an unproductive (1 sack), injury shortened season in S11. With a bunch a pair of 2nd-round DEs nipping at his heels and Travis Johnson shooing away Father Time once again, Campbell was the lone Dolphin to record double digit sacks (10) and chipped in a pair of FFs.

Ravens WR Calvin Johnson

The Ravens selected him in the Top 5 back in greengravy's lone season (S3). Being in a Baltimore run-centric offense, he didn't really have a chance to shine (career highs of 774 yards and 6 TDs in separate seasons), and after suffering a season-ending injury in the S11 preseason, one had to wonder if the Ravens would trade the 32-year-old and his $8.54 mil salary to a team in need of WR help. They stuck with him, and he rewarded them with by far his finest season tied for the league lead in receptions (88), just shy of 1000 yards (990), and 10 TDs.

Lightning G Kelechi Osemele

The Lightning gave up an upper-teens pick in the first round in S11 to sign Osemele as a RFA. His first season in Anaheim was a complete disaster as as he tied for the league lead in sacks allowed (19) with just 36 blocks. With another season under his belt and a better supporting cast, he was able to trim that sub-2:1 block sack ratio into nearly 20:1 with 56 blocks against 3 sacks allowed, helping a 31-year-old journeyman HB become the league's second-leading rusher.

Giants MLB Barrett Ruud

A fantasy draft pick of the Giants, Ruud lost all of last season due to injury and was going to shipped out of town this past offseason until the trading partner backed out. The Giants rewarded Ruud with what should be his final contract, and he ultimately provided the second most tackles in his career (137, 5th in the league) and three sacks + FFs + FRs to show that he is still part of the Giants' (immediate) future.

Redskins HB Terrence Whitehead

Speaking of journeymen, Whitehead is the poster child for it in B8NFLL having played for nine teams in his 11 seasons in the league. His only 1000 yard rushing season coming into the season had been as a rookie in Pittsburgh in S2. At 33 and with a low-80s rating, it appeared that his rookie season was going to be his most productive. An unfortunate season-ending injury to Markus Manson in Week 5 was a great opportunity for Whitehead. He finished with 1023 rushing yards and the second-most receiving yards by a HB (457) to finish with 1480 total yards, a career high in what may be his final season.
