The most logical move here is to keep the body inside the room and change the story such that someone else did it. He was literally told is it acceptable to change the story around. But he went ahead and chose a move 100 times more risky without even thinking how he could possibly make it work. This isn't an Ace Attorney game, he can't say something stupid and expect to get away with it later.
