I mean before we get to inoffensive but poor characters like Arthur and Setsuna let's talk about Corrin, who reads like a fanfiction self insert from a sociopath. Her defining characteristic is "she doesn't like to kill people" she's inconsistent and the story has to bend around her poorly written choices and actions. Other self inserts actually give Merit to their characters to give the entire cast an excuse to like them (Chris was raised to be a man of character by his grandpa, Robin was a master tactician, Byleth is god ) but Corrin has the characters throwing themselves at her feet simpl because she exists.

Then we have Iago, who has the motivations of "be a bad person" sometimes he's being manipulated by Garon, sometimes he's manipulating Garon, he doesn't really ever show what his motivations are, he has no ambitions, he's just a guy who stands next to Garon and goes "heyy evil king you ever consider murder?"

Garon himself is another weird inconsistent character. Is he a monster? Is he Corrupted old Garon? Why is he a dragon sometimes but muk other times? Does he have his own will? Sometimes he shows compassion for his children when it moves the plot along. Nothing about him makes any sense.

Basically all the fates royals are at the bottom too. Xander trusts corrin unless he doesn't and straight up doesn't let murdering his family slow him down. Leo kills Zola (Zola for CYL4) for nearly ending the war bloodlessly. Hinoka never says anything or does anything. Azura stands there the entire plot so she can sing whenever the plot needs a deus ex machina.
