Think? It might be closer to "know." The mouse ears of doom should have stayed the fuck away from the franchise.

If anything, I'm tempted to still put the blame on Lucas.

Disney handled the Marvel films perfectly. They mostly worked because they had a singular vision, coming from a producer who actually liked the material and was passionate about creating something that would both satisfy comic fans and appeal to a wider audience, while respecting the mateiral (see also, what DC/WB constantly get wrong). Feige coordinated, he plotted things out in advance, and if he needed to rein a director in, he didn't hesitate to do so.

But Kathleen Kennedy came as part of the deal when Disney bought Lucasfilm - Lucas hired her to basically be his co-head before Disney bought the company, and when it was sold, Disney just kept her on promoted to full control. From their perspective, it makes sense - you don't want to rock the boat too badly and disrupt the internal workings of the golden goose, or piss fans off too badly because you're perceived as gutting an acquisition (see also, EA).

It's possible the only thing Disney did wrong is not immediately fire her/replace her with someone better (more capable, more willing to actually take control and not cede total artistic direction to multiple different directors with no end goal in sight, etc). But it's hard to say that Disney had any real reason to suspect she was going to be a problem until after she was already a problem - after which the well is already somewhat poisoned.

Though for conspiracy theory fun, Lucas only hired her to help run his company the same month he supposedly started discussing the idea of selling to Disney, so it's entirely possible he basically got her the job solely so she WOULD fuck up and make him look better by comparison. One last fuck you on the way out the door (along with reediting the Han/Greedo scene again and not telling anyone so no one would know until years later).

I can easily imagine an alternate world where Disney bought the company and put someone like Kevin Feige in charge and the sequels wound up being incredible. You don't even really need to change all that many characters or actors (Rey, Finn, and Poe are fine as protagonists, and they're all well-cast). All you really need is an ending in mind before you start telling the story, and enough creative control over the full arc to make sure you get to the ending effectively, and not spend the middle movie wallowing in metaphorical feces before you have to resort to a desperate Hail Mary play to salvage things.

For another, we would have gotten another Tron movie.

Okay, now that, I can't argue with.
