You have zero business entering another person's home uninvited. They don't know if you have a weapon, if you're hopped up on meth, whatever.

Unless the burglar flees immediately upon seeing/hearing you, I feel like it needs to be treated like a life or death situation in most every case. Should you ask them politely to leave, call the police and then wait patiently for them to arrive and hope you haven't been mortally wounded in the meantime?
