After you play videogames for over 20 years, you want to play something that feels different or original rather than some slightly enhanced version of a genre you have played 10 times already. Sometimes what's original is the story. Might be why modern JRPGs don't seem to be doing so hot. Berseria tanked, Bravely tanked, and people aren't putting much faith in Octopath.
