A lot of Wii u owners bought it just to keep the system from gathering dust. Splatoon 2 was pretty much the same thing the first one was with a couple of bells and whistles, it didn't have the novelty factor both on the gameplay side and the 'new Nintendo franchise' side. It sold better but it wouldn't surprise me that interest dwindled. I think highly iterative sequels are almost invariably going to be weaker than the original. --- If you're only on this board to whine about "SJWs", please redirect whatever you type on to the nearest trash can.
