ECW Presents Heat Wave
Wk. 2, July 1996

We start off with Cactus Jack taking on Scott Steiner. In a fairly slow paced but solid match, Scott wins one for the Network. (B-) Alfonso and Heyman are in the back, arguing over whose group is going to dominate tonight. (C) Terry Funk seeks to fare better than Cactus, in action against Mark Henry. It's a more heated brawl, going all around ringside before Funk puts away the youngster. (D+) Shane Douglas and Stevie Richards of the Wolfpac successfully make a big point by putting away ECW's own Tommy Dreamer and Sabu. (C)

Our title triple threats kick off with the TV Title: Taz defends against Jericho of the Network and Whipwreck of the Wolfpac. Taz controls a large portion of the match, but doesn't seem to be taking Jericho very seriously....which comes back to bite him when Jericho gets him from behind with the Backstabber for the win! (C-)

Bad Crew want a shot at whoever walks away with the tag titles tonight! ECW...Network...Wolfpac....Bad Crew don't care! Neither do the fans. (E) In more appealing news, Pitbulls attempt to defend against two up and coming teams: the Suicide Blondes from the Network, and the face Dudleys who have recently joined the Wolfpac. Tables and ladders and chairs all come into play in a crazy spotfest. There's something to that combo maybe! The ref gives them some leeway, and the Dudleys take home the gold after one of the Pitbulls takes a 3-D. (C-)

La Parka gives his thoughts on the state of the world title picture. He is uncharacteristically sad at Scorpio's absence. While he does not like the Rick Steiner or the Network, Bigelow is a big mean hombre. Maybe Rock can win! (C-) But which of those three will be the next ECW Champion? Steiner tries to hang back and let Rock's youthful vigor wear down the big man...but they both team up to put him through the announce table! Rock gets Bigelow on the ropes...but Chavo comes running down to break up the finish! Chavo and Rock brawl to the outside, and Steiner is back up! He runs....right in to Greetings from Asbury Park! 1...2....3! Bigelow wins to a mixed but thunderous reaction! (B-) Henry limps out to celebrate with his partner as the show closes. (B-)
