Super difficult to best the first time you're in that area, and I don't think I ever went back for him. Yeah, I ended up passing on him too. I barely eked out a victory against the Lv53 Reinforcement Mechon, then that guy marched out to take its place and I just said "nope" and got out of there. I didn't get the one that was near the Bionis Wound area either.
