Would declaring bankruptcy help your dad at all? I'm no expert, but it seems like precisely the situation bankruptcy was made for.
Fun fact: Bankruptcy doesn't clear your alimony or child support debts.
At least that's how I remember it, it's been over a year since I took that section of the CPA exam.
