Only been on Steam since lockdown started and haven't really bothered with the aesthitics much outside of a name change and profile pic. Is there a dummies guide to the benefits of levelling up anywhere? On your profile, top right it will tell you your level. Click it to be taken to your badge page where it will also list the XP required 'till next level. Crafting badges from a full set of trading card for that game will net you 100xp, and can be repeated 5 times per game. Each game has different numbers of cards, but you can get the cards from simply playing the game/having it open (max cards earned this way are 1/2 of the total set). Alternatively, you can buy the cards off the steam marketplace. There are also events, like these sales where Steam will give out badges (with varying XP) for various tasks - some related to crafting an event-badge, others for taking part in "games" (like races or ARGs from previous events) As you craft badges, you also earn other stuff like emoticons and backgrounds, which you can either keep or sell on the marketplace. Most, though, only go for a few cents. Still, a good way to get one for yourself without having to try your luck crafting a badge for anything specific. And yes, this is how you can get backgrounds and whatnot for games that you don't even own. --- ... Copied to Clipboard! |
