What?! My whole point is that a lot of people on CE are homophobic still in 2020. I see it all the time.
And in the part you quoted I said there is nothing wrong with being gay and you had said that you don't agree with me at all.

Yeah, I agree with you, buddy
Listen, you obviously are just willing to let hate win so there doesn't seem to be a point in even having a discussion with you but I'm going to lay out my feelings on the whole subject about the power of words anyway.

In my opinion love is a much stronger force than hate. When we allow hateful people to take words or symbols that mean nothing in the grand scheme of things and turn them in to symbols of hate we allow them to win. Now obviously there come times when that cannot be helped, such as the swastika. A vile, evil entity such as the nazis taking the swastika and turning it into the symbol of hate that it is now. (Granted it is still used in it's intended form in the areas it originated, which is good.) If instead of saying, "oh noes neo-nazis are using the ok hand symbol as a symbol of hate there is nothing we can do to stop them," we could instead say, "what they are doing is childish and asinine, I refuse to allow them to warp and demean something to fit their goals." It's not hard to fight hate, it just requires an actual effort.

As for "sucks" my point is if hateful people can take words and twist their meanings to suit their agenda why can't everyone else take things that started out hateful and twist their meanings to be that of an afterthought. When I hear someone says "sucks" my first thought isn't :this person is a homophobic or sexist piece of shit" and it shouldn't be, if that term started out as a sexist or homophobic term I don't agree that it still is. Language is ever evolving and we as a society and as individuals have a duty to steer our language in the direction we want it to go. If you are ok with words being coopted by hate groups and refusing to strip hateful words of their power that's on you.

Edit- I didnt see your edit before I posted this and instead of rewriting it I am just throwing this edit in to let you know I now see it.
