Overlooking that anime & manga treats sword injuries as being less lethal, a sword fight involves a lot of clashing blades and dodging attacks. You kinda don't have that dynamic with guns.Gun fights involve a lot of dodging attacks (at least in anime). I've even seen em clash guns directly. Black lagoon is a pretty great example of all the stuff you can do with guns. Gunslinger girl also had some brief but amazing gunplay with triella. Theres not a lot of normal cowboy anime but theres really not a lot of normal samurai anime either. Most of it has super powers or demons or aliens or some shit. Anime just tends to stray away from realism which is frustrating but I don't think cowboy specific.
