once you near the endgame, the entire map basically consolidates around 3 powers with the other two being roughly as strong as you, so it's better than most total war games in that regard... but depending on how capitals are located it might either be really easy or a really long slog. overall three kingdoms has the least annoying endgame because everything falls into place kind of easily once you're the only kingdom left, and vassals are actually loyal and useful (hell there's two lords that basically can only control a handful of territories themselves but have massively increased vassal limits)
