No, they aren't. They're scnes faire.

Fighting the bad guys is not a character trait. It's inherent to the action genre. What makes a character who they are is what makes them unique from their peers. In Bond's case, his identity is in his playboy nature. It's the thing which separates him from action characters like John Wick, Jason Bourne, John Rambo, etc.

When they leave that at the door, Bond becomes just another action hero with a gun. If the Daniel Craig series is so great, why has Bond struggled to remain relevant? How come his version doesn't receive the same parodies as older interpretations of 007? They're fighting against the underlining appeal of the character and they're fighting a losing battle in doing so.
