in my rating scale, 5/10 is completely average with points given for surpassing that line or taken away for falling short of it.

i took on this project to give myself perspective on a series that has graced me with a lot of what i might put in the 'JRPG' box soundwise--music that fails to capture my imagination with stuff i feel i've already heard elsewhere. in other words if i feel the music is Standing Out from the goopy soup of driving orchestral rock and other typical fantasy-adventure sound then it's likely to cut well above the rest. very pleased to report there were tracks here that definitely struck a high chord(!), and even the picks i didn't enjoy as much were well worth my time
