I completely agree with FD. (well, I do think "meta gaming" about tasks is way too unfavoured for imposters due to game knowledge, but it's a reasonable part of the game)

It's not 7 minutes of random walking. I spend the entire time between discussions pushing my brain to 150% capacity trying to remember everybody I see, what direction they went when I lost them, and who they were with. Then when discussion comes, I forget like 80% of what I saw. Was that a brown player or an orange player that came out of the room with the body? I saw red13 and another player at weapons.... who was the other player again??? Maybe I'll ask him at the meeting. Everybody has a piece of the puzzle of what events occurred between meetings, and they probably don't remember or interpret everything they saw correctly. Meeting time is when everybody tries to contribute their flawed puzzle pieces and we try to fit them all together. This is also imposter's opportunity to contribute completely made up puzzle pieces to confuse the picture for everyone, or to contribute their own rock solid truthful pieces to appear like they are crew. Town tries to vote based on their incomplete picture and imposter just tries to keep that picture as vague as possible.

I think this is really engaging gameplay loop, especially with voice to keep discussions moving quickly. This might be the most enjoyable mafia game I've played.

Board mafia was obviously awesome with tons of strategic depth, but required so much of a time commitment I just couldn't do it sustain it after a couple years (though I really treasure the memories I have of those games!). AIMfia I just never enjoyed because I could not keep up with reading the chat as it flew by and actually contribute to discussion at the same time. Town of Salem was a neat game but good discussion didn't really seem possible to me. In person Mafia is fun but I rarely get groups for those and the groups I have are typically a bunch of heart on their sleeve drunks.... which is a ton of fun but never really scratched the strategic itch I like in these games.

Honestly, despite a few rough edges I think Among Us is really great.
