This has got to be second phase final boss music. This song is pulling out all the stops to make it sound epic, but I don't feel like there's much difference with the evo version. If they're different, they're functionally equivalent.

Having been familiar with the OTHER version first, I would say the original's instrumentation has more charm! The guitar has a bit of a blue-grass feel to it, and the flutes sound so barren and longing. Creates a unique feel. I love the bass's dark sound and and the piano doing those little complmentary bits, working together w/ the guitar in the second half... also a unique feeling. Even the choice of drums seem meaningful. i-VI harmonies are utilized nicely, and there's the nice addition of nat-VI at 0:33. Some catchy motifs, too.

EVO version: Yeah, some of the instrumentation on this one sounds too "standard" and a lot of the feelings of the original have been lost, but actually that mainly applies to the violin. I love the raindrop piano strikes in the first part of it and some of the other ambient stuff.

Good song, and a really good evo version again???

Original works a backing part by tossing a ton of different melodies over top. It works. Evo has some neat ideas, but switches all the instruments around and adds some background SFX. Some of it works surprisingly well, like the ocean waves, and some of it is clearly the result of too much meddling.

I love the instrumentation in the Evo version. Feels like water droplets, electric stuff with piano and strings works so well... It's so haunting.

bruh moment
